DC11: Strategies for AWE commercialisation
Delft University of Technology
Objective
This DC will investigate optimal strategies for developing the technology and business, to exploit short-term niche strategies and further strategies to build up the technological innovation system. For the successful introduction and scaling-up of an innovation, a complete technological innovation system around the innovation is needed. Such a technological innovation system consists of technology and knowledge; dedicated networks of actors; and fitting rules and regulations. Based upon a thorough investigation of the completeness of the technological innovation system in a certain country, the optimal commercialisation strategies for the innovation can be determined. In this DC, the completeness of the technological innovation system in three different countries will be determined. Based upon these analyses, the optimal strategies for the AWE systems within these countries will be specified. Apart from that, roadmaps will be sketched for further development of the technological innovation systems within the countries, in order to arrive at optimal conditions for large-scale implementation of the AWE systems in those countries.
Expected Results
Current status of innovation systems in 3 different countries. Identification of missing components of innovation systems in the 3 different countries. A set of strategies that can help Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) develop the business in stages. An additional set of strategies that can help SMEs, energy companies and society at large scale-up for a large deployment of AWE. Roadmaps for how different actors in the AWE and electricity sector can transform for a future large penetration of AWE.
