Munich University of Applied Sciences
Being the second largest University of Applied Sciences in Germany with around 500 professors, 800 lecturers and 700 staff members, HM offers more than 90 study courses in 14 departments to more than 18,000 students. It is a member of the European University Association (EUA). The range of study programs covers natural sciences as well as engineering, social sciences, economy, architecture, arts and design. At HM, research and development are conducted in close cooperation with partners from industry and academia. Currently, HM carries more than 100 national and international third party funded research and development projects. As a higher education and research institution, HM is involved, e.g., in sustainable building concepts, intelligent energy systems and artificial intelligence. Currently, more than 120 PhDs are supervised at HM. The PhDs are supported by the HM Graduate School and are offered a diverse training programme and personal coaching. Since 2023, HM has the right to award PhDs in four subject areas with particular research strength. The Graduate School cooperates with the Technical University München. The involved research areas are Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronic and Renewable Energy Systems.
